Who Are We?
Newport Zine was founded in 2020 by Vernon and Mallory, inspired by their desire to build a supportive and inclusive art community where independent creators could get their work printed and shared with others. It was then and always will be funded entirely through personal contributions and donations, with no intention of generating profit. Every contributing artist always retains full rights to their pieces.
In the past there was a bustling community built through discord and instagram behind the scenes, but over time as social media changed so did the format and scope of the project. While we will always include the art of any artist who feels inspired to submit, the zine itself is now its own art piece and we use it as a vehicle to collect and distribute the things that inspire and motivate us.
At its core, the Newport Zine is about creating art for the pure enjoyment of it and forming meaningful connections along the way. We believe in environmental consciousness, spreading positivity, and finding the strange and interesting parts of the world that are often missed.
Zine Schedule
Zines are published in May/June and October /November each year. Announcements are sent out several weeks before the due date through email, as well as announcement posts os instagram and discord. Communication with us should be sent via email as we do not actively monitor our social media accounts on a daily basis.
